I think I've said in the past that I disagree with many in the SEO world about many of the tactics. I'm more liberal than most and that many businesses would move away from any particular method of promoting "ethical" reasons, I really take the approach Richard Branson 'and aspire to glory!

The thing to remember is that advertising is advertising that does not really matter how you get it. Anything that can raise their profile, even if it is "bad publicity" that must be taken as an opportunity to turn it to your advantage.

And this brings us to the complex issue of links and link building. So many people will tell you that you need to concentrate on obtaining "good" links only good and bad neighborhoods joining the invitation is a bad thing. I really do not understand the idea of bad link, it is simply impossible to get a bad relationship and when challenged me explain as follows.

You see, anyone can create a link to your site and you can know nothing about it. Now, if there is a place that was very bad for your reputation and get links from the same search rankings dropped, then I wonder where he was. If that site was (trust me, no) and then went to find a way to get thousands of links from it.

Can you imagine the 'e-torpedo "that could be deployed if there was no wrong way to send links to any other site? That would put an incredible amount of power in the hands of those who could do more damage. It is not possible and you should remember the only rule that could exist here: the worst that can happen is nothing at all.

Good relations obviously can build the reputation of your site and increase search ranking, but simply no way that Google allows that there is such thing as 'bad links' that can actually decrease your ranking.

So when you've done some link building for your site and suddenly falls in the ranking – What's happening? Well it seems that not a phenomenon where when a site suddenly reaches a certain degree of popularity, be reduced in the ranking, but Google re-evaluate their position.

In all campaigns that have been part of, the site has come back in at least one position and typically much higher in the rankings. This is obviously of little consolation if you rely on your search position to make money, but you should not rely on Google anyway – is a fickle lover to make sure you have other income streams.

One thing to keep in mind – if you are looking for links and therefore spend time on that, really should go for good, if not great. A link is great, by far the most important thing to achieve, why bother with links bad in the first place?

So what is a 'strong links' and how is this achieved? Well, again we see people like Richard Branson and see how to get publicity. If we do, we realize that are currently in the public eye and post in the most important and what they should consider doing the same.

There is a simple rule of thumb here: the more difficult it is to get a link from any particular site, the more valuable it will link. Therefore, you can use this to their advantage and spend more time investigating and trying very hard to get some links – here are some ideas to get started:

    • Newspaper websites
    • Local newspapers are almost always after a story, and so are ready to hear yours, but are generally very reluctant to give links so you need to do something special to get one. One of the easiest ways I've found to do this is to simply offer more information on my website. If you have a story that has some local interest, you can easily spice to your life by having a lot of photos.Even better, if you can do so that people can request more information or help in some way, the newspaper is more likely to mention first of its website in the paper copy, but also a link to your site.
This is obviously difficult to make peace, but remember – if it is difficult, it is likely worthwhile.

    • Charity Websites
    • Why not a fundraiser for a charitable organization? Now you must choose a national charity and good are often more difficult to organize a link to the premises, but again it's probably worth it. Look for charities that advertise a lot and help. Even national charities have local offices – just contact and ask on the spot. It might seem that this is a bit mercenary, but they're used to it. People want help, but they realize they can take to help return – and a simple link from your website is a small price to pay for some advertising or even some fundraising.

    • Bloggers
    • Blogging is the new journalism, and there are thousands of blogs on the Internet, but some are very popular and therefore have much weight. Now, you need to find a blog that is relevant to your industry, so it's not so easy, but if you find one then you can find a way to get a link. Some of them are quite commercial and simply ask for a payment – that others want you to take part and this leads to the social side of the web.

The more help, more will be helped and what is absolutely essential in their adventures to get links that actually help others too. I'm not talking about reciprocal linking here (which is a simple trade with anything else involved), no, I'm talking to really help out the site owner.

For example, if you sell a product and find a blog that is visited that tests your type of product, I wonder if they will do a review in exchange for a link. They stay with the product, you get some publicity and, above all, you get an extremely valuable relationship for your site.

There are many ways to get links that it is impossible to go into great detail here, so I return with many more ideas.

Search Engine Optimization is a method used to get more traffic to your website.  Whenever someone performs a search online they are using a search engine.  With thousands or sometimes millions of potential sites to look at you need to find a way to make sure that your site appears as high up in the search results as possible.

Research has found that people only look at the first one to three pages of results from a Web search before choosing to click on a site.  Therefore it is of extreme importance that you get your site to the top of the list.  In order to keep people coming back enough times to make a purchase you need to provide them with some useful information once they reach your site.  Keep your site up-to-date by renewing content often and by adding current features such as a blog.

The way to get your site to the top of the search list results is through search engine optimization.  Search engines send out what are called Web crawlers or spiders to retrieve information from pertinent sites.  This is how your site will be located in search engines.  The search engines look for what are called Meta tags on the pages of your site.
